doctor, actor, lawyer or a singer
why not president, be a dreamer

you can be just the one you wanna be
police man, fire fighter or a post man
why not something like your old man
you can be just the one you wanna be
doctor, actor, lawyer or a singer
why not president, be a dreamer
you can be just the one you wanna be
i know that we all got one thing
that we all share together

we got that one nice dream

we live for
you never know what life could bring

coz nothing last for ever
just hold on to the team
you play for
i know you could reach the top
make sure that you won't stop
be the one that you wanna
be
now sing this with me

we may have different ways to think but
it doesn't really matter
we all caught up in the steam
of this life
focus on every little thing
that's what does really matter
luxury cars and bling
thats not real life

i know you could reach the top
make sure that you won't stop
be the one that you wanna be
now sing this with me

last year i used to dream about this day
now i'm here i'm singing for you

i hope i could inspire you
coz i've got all the love,
coz i've got all love for you

Is Buddhism scientific ?

Before we answer that question it would be best ti define the word ' science '.

Science , according to the dictionary is : ''knowledge which can be made into a system, which depends upon seeing and testing facts and stating general natural laws, a branch of such knowledge, anythings that can be studied exactly''.

There are aspects of Buddhism that would not fit into this definition but the central teachings of Buddhism, the four Noble Truths, most certainly would. Suffering, the First Noble Truth, is an experienced and measured. The second Noble Truth state that suffering has a natural cause, craving , which likewise can be defined, experienced and measured. No attempted is made to explain suffering in terms of a metaphysical concept of myths. Suffering ended, according to the Third Noble Truth, not by relying on upon a supreme being , by faith or by prayers but simply by removing its cause. This is axiomatic. The Fourth Noble Truth , the way to end suffering, once again , has nothing to do with metaphysics but depends on behaving in specific ways. And once again behaviour is open to testing.

Buddhism dispenses with the concept of a supreme being, as does science, and explains the origins and workings of the universe in terms of natural law. All of this certainly exhibits a scientific spirit. Once again , the Buddha's constant advice that we should not blindly believe but rather question, examine, inquire and rely on your own experience, has a definite scientific ring to it. He says :'' Do not go by revelation or tradition, do not go by rumour, or the sacred scriptures, do not go by hearsay or mere logic, do not go by bias towards a notion or by another person's seeming ability and do not go by the idea ' He is our teacher ' . But when you yourself know that a thing is good, that it is not blamable, that it is praised by the wise and when practiced and observed that it leads to happiness, and then follow that thing. ''

So we could say that although Buddhism in not entirely scientific, it certainly has a strong overtone and is certainly more scientific than any other religion.

Those who beat the odds deserve praise

WHAT we should when praising students with a string of As is under what conditions the students achieved these excellent results.

Did their whole life revolve around school and attending tuition classes? Or did they do it on their own with only the normal school education?

Did the students take part in extracurricular activities in school and outside school ( e.g. music classes, volunteer work ) and did they have to juggle their time between studies and such activities?

Or, did the students have sick or ailing parents or siblings that they had to care for? Or worse, did they have to contend with abusive parents, or even family disintegration due to separation or divorce?

What about their socio-economic conditions? Compare the situation of students who have everything going for them and who are waited on hand and foot by maids against the many who may not live in plenty, and who have to do household chores and more.

Some even have to help out at their parent's food stalls and the like,to help them eke out a living.

Students who achieve good grades while up against so many other things and without attending extra tuition classes are the ones who truly deserve praise .And to those with good morals and character to boot,I'd say ''Well done !''

They must be given due recognition. They are the ones who should be rightly lauded and rewarded.

FOREVER YOU ARE IN MY

my heart is open and my arms are too
waiting to share my love with you,
making you happy and way i can
smiles and hugs are in my plan,
melting me with your glowing smile
calming with that gentle style,
there is no place else i'd rather be
than in your heart for eternity,
hand in hand is the dream i hold
hoping you share after these words are told,
life with you will be a fairytale
where beautiful love will never fail,
i choose to keep these feelings dear
my message should now be clear,
i'll cherish you from this day on
until the day this would is gone,
forever you are in my heart...
